I constantly keep hearing people talk/argue on the U of M TC campus about what should get more fundings, the arts or the athletics?

I'm going to say that the athletics should get more funding only because they give more money by having fans, selling seats, food and drinks at spring events.

  1. I disagree on both counts; the academics should receive the most budget, as that's what a college is for. Athletics provide a select few with bright futures and draw in income, true, but the arts need some funding, too. However, this relates to my post about what "art" is, as creativity grants can be exploited.

  2. I understand where you are coming from but in today's world athletics bring in millions of dollars in revenue. An example of this is to look at Nebraska State's football team. In one year their football team brought in over 15 million dollars, and most of the revenue was profit for the school to use on what ever it needed. This is almost the same for U of M TC, even though the football team is not that good compared to the rest of the Big Ten conference it still makes money for the school.
